1. GENERAL INFORMATION

Here you can find some general information about us and the Warikani application.

1.1 About the Privacy Policy. This Warikani privacy policy (the "Privacy Policy") governs the processing of personal data collected from individual users and entities ("you" and "your") through the software application "Warikani" (the "App") and any associated website (collectively, "Warikani"). The Privacy Policy does not cover any third-party websites, applications or software that integrate with Warikani or any other third-party products and services.

1.2 About Warikani. Warikani is a bill-splitting and household accounting application designed for two users, allowing you to record shared expenses, split costs at customizable ratios, and settle balances easily. The App supports multiple currencies and automatically syncs payment data between paired users.

1.3 Data controller. Warikani is owned and operated by Risa Sherling ("we", "us", or "our").

1.4 Minors. Warikani is not intended for use by persons under the age of 14. Only persons who are at the age of majority (18) can register their user accounts. Thus, if you would like to allow your child under 18 to use Warikani, you must register your user account by using your personal data. We do not knowingly collect personal data belonging to persons younger than 14. If you become aware that such a person has provided us with his or her personal data and you are a parent or a legal guardian of that person, please contact us immediately and we will remove that person's personal data from our systems.

1.5 Term and termination. This Privacy Policy enters into force on the effective date indicated at the top of the Privacy Policy and remains valid until terminated or updated by us.

1.6 Amendments. We can change the Privacy Policy from time to time to address the changes in Warikani, laws, regulations, and industry standards. The amended version of the Privacy Policy will be posted within the App. We encourage you to review our Privacy Policy to stay informed. For significant material changes in the Privacy Policy or, where required by the applicable law, we may seek your consent. If you disagree with the changes to the Privacy Policy, you should cease using Warikani.

2. WHAT DATA DO WE COLLECT?

Here we explain in detail what personal data we collect from you, for what purposes we use it, what technical data is collected automatically when you use Warikani, and what messages you may receive from us.

2.1 Collection of personal data. We comply with data minimization principles. Thus, we collect only a minimal amount of personal data that is necessary for your use of Warikani. We use your personal data for limited, specified and legitimate purposes explicitly mentioned in this Privacy Policy. In short, we use it only for the purposes of providing you with access to Warikani, registering your account, maintaining and improving Warikani, delivering advertisements, conducting research about Warikani and our business activities, replying to your enquiries, and pursuing our legitimate business interests. We do not repurpose your personal data. It means that we do not use it for any purposes that are different from the purposes for which your personal data was provided. Below, you can find an overview of the types of personal data that we collect, the purposes for which we use it, and the legal bases on which we rely when processing it.

• User account. When you register your user account, we collect your email address and password. We use the said information to register and maintain your user account, enable your access to Warikani, provide you with the requested services, contact you, if necessary, and maintain our business records. The legal bases on which we rely are 'performing a contract with you' and 'pursuing our legitimate business interests' (i.e. operate, analyze, grow, and administer Warikani). We will store this data until you delete your user account.
• Expense data. When you use Warikani to record expenses, settlement history, and other financial data, we process that data in order to provide you with the App's core functionality, including syncing data between paired users. The legal basis on which we rely is 'performing a contract with you'. We will store this data until you delete it or delete your user account.
• Enquiries. When you contact us by email or using the in-app contact form, we collect your name, email address, and any information that you decide to include in your message. We use such data to respond to your enquiries and provide you with the requested information. The legal bases on which we rely are 'pursuing our legitimate business interests' (i.e. to grow and promote our business) and 'your consent' (for optional personal data). We will store this data until you stop communicating with us.
• Device and usage data. When you use Warikani, we or our third-party analytics and advertising service providers (as explained below) may collect your device ID, user ID, and information about your interactions with the App (product interactions). We use this data to analyse the technical aspects of your use of Warikani, deliver relevant advertisements, prevent fraud and abuse, and ensure the security of Warikani. The legal basis on which we rely is 'pursuing our legitimate business interests' (i.e. to analyze, protect, and monetize Warikani). We will store this data as long as analytics and advertising records are necessary for our business.
• Advertising data. We use third-party advertising services (Google AdMob) to display advertisements within Warikani. These services may collect your device ID and advertising data to serve relevant ads. For more information, please refer to section 5.2. The legal basis on which we rely is 'pursuing our legitimate business interests' (i.e. to monetize Warikani). You may opt out of personalised advertising through your device settings.
